Role Description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Welding NDT & Coating QC Supervisor to support a major oil and gas project, working on behalf of our Teeside based client. 

We are looking for an experienced multi-disciplined inspector with a strong background in welding, coatings and NDT inspection within the oil and gas industry.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising Welding, NDT and Coating inspection activities, ensuring that Quality Control Plans and Inspection & Test Plans are correctly implemented and that subcontractor activities comply with project specifications, applicable codes and standards.

Working as part of the project quality team, you will provide support to the Onshore Quality Engineer across landfall and outlet facility works.

Key Responsibilities:

* Review and comment on subcontractor Quality Control Plans, procedures, method statements and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) covering welding, NDT and coating activities.

* Ensure submitted documentation complies with project specifications, applicable codes, standards and contractual requirements.

* Support the assessment of subcontractor QC personnel, including welding inspectors, NDT technicians and coating inspectors.

* Verify the validity of relevant personnel certifications and ensure inspectors are suitably qualified and competent for their assigned activities.

* Support the implementation of project quality information systems, including document control, traceability and inspection records.

* Attend witness and hold points in accordance with approved subcontractor ITPs.

* Supervise subcontractor inspection activities and verify compliance with approved procedures and project requirements.

* Review welding inspection reports, NDT results, coating inspection records and associated quality documentation.

* Verify that required tests, inspections and controls are completed in accordance with approved QC Plans and ITPs.

* Ensure quality documentation is correctly collected, controlled, maintained and traceable.

* Verify that subcontractor documentation meets project turnover requirements for both prefabrication and site activities.

* Identify quality issues and support their resolution in accordance with project procedures.

Candidate Requirements:

* Proven hands-on experience in welding and NDT inspection.

* Strong knowledge of welding and coating processes, inspection requirements and defect identification.

* A thorough understanding of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), Quality Control Plans and project quality requirements.

* Experience supervising or monitoring subcontractor inspection activities.

* Good understanding of project specifications, applicable codes and standards.

* Strong documentation, reporting and quality control skills.

Essential Certifications:

* BGAS-CSWIP Grade 2 Coating Inspector or equivalent.

* CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector.

* PCN Level 2 qualifications in:

  * Penetrant Testing (PT)

  * Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)

  * Ultrasonic Testing (UT)

 

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced multi-disciplined QC Inspector to secure a long-term contract on a major energy project in Teesside.

Location: Teesside (site based)

Start date: ASAP

Duration: 12 months +

Rate: c. £550-600 per day.  Role expected to fall outside of IR35, subject to pre-assignment assessment.
