Role Description

We are currently looking for a Principal Geotechnical Engineer for our client, a leading international offshore oil & gas/renewable energy design and engineering contractor based in London, working on the design of Offshore Wind Foundations.

Principal Geotechnical Engineer:

  • Review geotechnical data and define soil strength parameters for (shallow and deep) foundation analysis and design/ installation analysis.
  • Development of pile foundation design which may include pile for steel jacket structures, monopile for wind turbine generators, suction caissons, mud-mat design, and gravity base structures.
  • Development of analytical models both linear and non-linear, for foundation axial and lateral load/deflection response and pile-soil interaction analysis, aimed for foundation and structure interaction analysis.
  • Derivation of soil resistance to driving and pile driveability analysis, pile stick-up analysis, pile driving fatigue, pile self-weight penetration, pile-run, pile set-up, pile tip buckling.
  • Derivation of installation requirements for suction caissons.
  • Application of Finite Element Analysis in geotechnical design 

Software:

  • MS Excel and hand calculations.
  • GRLWEAP
  • SPLICE
  • PLAXIS

Qualifications:

  • BEng or Meng in Civil Engineering / Geotechnical Engineering
