Role Description

Our client, a leading engineering, design & installation contractor operating within the oil & gas sector, is currently looking for a Department Manager to lead their offshore fixed facilities design team.  

Candidates must have experience in offshore jacket design and should have experience in leading a team.

The successful candidate should:

  • Have an engineering degree with experience in the domain of design and fabrication of jackets and decks for offshore oil and gas construction/decommissioning and renewables, including sufficient background for interfaces with the design of top side facilities and marine operation for installations.
  • Show strong technical expertise in structural design and analysis of offshore platforms (with more exposure to jackets structures) including sufficient knowledge for main interfaces and technology aspects (material selection, fabricability and procurement interfaces, geotechnical & meteocean requirement, equipment/plant design requirement etc..) as well as installation method aspects of fixed planform projects, with direct experience of such projects.
  • Possess knowledge and skills to support and develop the assigned team including training programs, motivation and development of resources towards more senior roles, as well as consolidating the design methodologies and analysis procedures to capture the lessons learned from projects.
  • Have an overview of EPCI Platform Projects and the ability to lead and co-ordinate technical input to tender activity and project execution, with the aim to integrate effectively and efficiently coordinate the engineering activity of the structural department into the project execution process managed by PMT.
  • Be flexible to travel to other offices, yards and offshore when required.

Candidates will coordinate Bids/Studies and acquired projects for fixed offshore platforms (and WTG plants).

Candidates should also have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, SACS and ABAQUS, Structural FEM packages, and a good knowledge of Structural Offshore Codes and standards used in North Sea.
