Role Description

We are currently looking for a Lead Structural Engineer, with a bias in detailed design, for our client, a leading international offshore oil & gas/renewable energy design and engineering contractor based in London.

Job Specification:

• To ensure satisfactory coordination and performance of all structural engineering activities on a project including the co-ordination and supervision of subordinates assigned to this task. 

• To have experience in performing/supervising detailed design calculations in accordance with our client's current requirements and the latest Industry Codes and Standards including statutory rules and regulations (DNV GL, API, AISC, EC and Norsok). 

• To Review/comment and approve Structural drawings based upon Engineering Design. 

• Preparation and checking of specifications and calculation reports in accordance with Company Standards. 

• To ensure that all activities are carried out in a manner consistent with Saipem’s policy on health, safety, quality and environmental matters in accordance with company specific procedures. 

• Interface with other disciplines for the definition and management of engineering activities particularly related to structural design. 

• To Prepare high quality Design Reports and to maintain records in accordance with Department Operating Procedures 

 

Skills and Qualifications Required: 

• B.Eng, M.Eng, or M.Sc in Civil/Structural Engineering or similar. Chartered Engineer or progressing towards charted status. 

• Proven offshore energy industry experience with a proven track record of delivering high quality Structural Engineering. 

• Ability to lead a group of engineers to solve challenging problems and to work effectively within the department. 

• Experience in the design of offshore structures (oil & gas / offshore wind) 

• Familiarity with current Offshore Wind Foundation design practices and developments 

• Experience and knowledge of offshore wind regulations, codes of practice and design standards 

• Familiarity with time domain, spectral and deterministic methods of fatigue assessment 

• Alternative techniques of solving of complex structural problems (e.g. sub-modelling, influence matrix) 

• Client-facing skills with good command of written and verbal English.
