Role Description

We are currently looking for an experienced Lead Installation Engineer to join our client, a leading offshore oil & gas/renewable energy design and installation contractor, to work on a variety of large offshore wind farm based in the UK sector of the North Sea as well as further afield.

The Role:

  • Manage and supervise scopes of work covering installation of Inter-array cables, providing engineering support for all construction activities from FEED engineering, ITT phase, and execution phase. For EPCI work scopes, also interface responsibility with Saipem design team to ensure constructability aspects are addressed as part of design scope.
  • Package engineering responsibilities during bid and execution phases covering technical, commercial and contractual aspects to ensure work scope is delivered on time and to budget.
  • Development of execution plan and manhours budget for engineering and construction phases.
  • Coordinate with Engineering Discipline Departments and CAD to provide input required in order to develop installation methodology, and preparation of detailed installation procedures addressing technical, safety and quality requirements.
  • Develop and prepare Standard processes / procedures for installation methodology covering inter-array cables.
  • Ensure time, cost, and quality project objectives are met, through direct coordination and management of project engineering team and close coordination with the relevant engineering product line Central function.
  • Cooperate and support project managers/directors in defining, monitoring and updating project execution plans, promoting an active interaction with project team key personnel.
  • Ensure correct consideration and application of technological requirements in all project phases.
  • Participate in defining the overall project planning and scheduling, directly supervising the finalization of engineering plans and schedule, including the architecture of detail engineering outsourcing.
  • Coordinate execution of multidisciplinary engineering activities, and manage activities assigned to external Engineering Centres and/or other Engineering Companies involved in the project.
  • Ensure review of contractual documents engineering related and interfacing with other project functions.
  • Support Project Manager in relations with Client and/or Licensors regarding process and specialist engineering problems.
  • Participate with contract management giving technical support to PM for variations requests and change orders.
  • Consolidate engineering hours and material budgets based on discipline departments budgets and control it during thecourse of the project alerting Project Management in case of variation and suggest mitigation measures.
  • Ensure effective performance of all engineering activities that support material/construction procurement process services.
  • Ensure that lessons learned for engineering are clearly documented, identifying area of improvement in close coordination with the relevant product line central functions

Required Skills;

  • Engineering degree with proven experience in the marine, offshore renewables, subsea oil & gas construction.
  • Must have strong technical expertise on renewable projects covering subsea cable installation and relevant SURF projects experience including wide experience of project engineering / package management.
  • Must have the required knowledge and good skills to support and technically develop the rest of the team.
  • Must have the required overview of an EPCI / T&I SURF Project (including cable installation) and able to co-ordinate technical input to tender activity.
  • Must be flexible to travel to other offices, yards and offshore when required.

Rate: Negotiable.  Role is expected to fall outside of IR35 but is subject to a pre-contract assessment to confirm this.
