Role Description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Building Services Engineer for a contract role, working with a local authority in central and north London.

With a strong focus on operational FM, you’ll maintain and develop schools and children’s center properties; ensuring repairs, maintenance and minor works improvements to M&E services are delivered to the highest standards whilst meeting budgets and legislative requirements.

Your relevant HNC/HND, BTEC ONC or City & Guilds qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering will be supported by experience of specifying and managing building electrical and mechanical works, carrying out site inspections and monitoring contractors and service providers. A good knowledge of statutory and technical building services requirements and relevant Health and Safety legislation will be required. A full job description is available.

The selection criteria covers key areas of work are:-                                                                                                                    That you can provide a proven  track record of repair & PPM maintenance, a sound knowledge of mainteance systems, experience of managing projects in live buildings, and experience in using computer based management systems.

• Experience of specifying and managing building electrical and mechanical works for a range of term, and main contractors

• Experience of carrying out site inspections, preparing surveys, cost estimates and feasibility studies

• Experience of running repair and maintenance (reactive and planned) works in portfolio of buildings

• Experience of monitoring the work of M&E engineering consultants and contractors, vetting their invoices and claims for payment & carrying out technical vetting of their performance

• Experience of electronic works ordering systems

• Experience of carrying out Clerk of Works duties

• Experience of working in a pro-active, results-driven environment


Start: February 2020.

3 months + contract duration

Rate: £19.50 p/h (Inside IR35) PAYE

35 hrs per week.
