Role Description
Experienced Offshore Commissioning Manager required to work on an exciting new carbon capture project on behalf of our client, a leading offshore oil & gas design, engineering & construction contractor based in London.
Candidates must be experienced in the commissioning of offshore substations, oil & gas facilities, or high-voltage power systems.
Responsibilities:
1. Commissioning Planning and Strategy
• Develop and implement the Commissioning Plan, schedule, effort and Commissioning Execution Strategy.
• Define commissioning phases (pre-commissioning, commissioning, energization, and handover).
• Ensure compliance with technical standards
2. Team Supervision and Coordination, leading commissioning team and coordinate with the other project functions, HV Equipment Vendors and client.
3. Commissioning Execution
• Supervise functional testing of key equipment:
• HVAC transformers
• GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear)
• Protection and SCADA systems
• Power electronics and grid interface
• Manage troubleshooting and issue resolution during commissioning.
• Coordinate the safe energization of the substation.
4. HSE & Quality Compliance
• Ensure all commissioning activities comply with HSE best practices.
• Verify that all tests meet project specifications and client requirements.
5. Stakeholder and Client Interface
• Maintain effective communication with the client and System Operator.
• Prepare final handover documentation (as-built records, commissioning reports, and punch list closure).
Required Qualifications and Experience:
• Technical Background: Electrical, Energy, or Automation Engineering.
• Technical Knowledge: High-voltage AC systems, SCADA and protection systems, Industrial automation, IEC, DNV, and Grid Code standards
• Certifications as required
